Rites For Pioneer Will Be Thursday. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. Mowre, pioneer of the west, who died Sunday evening will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Smith's Chapel. The services will be in charge of the Rev. George S. Sloan. Mrs. Ellen Swearingen will sing. Interment will be in Mountview cemetery. Mrs. Mowre, who was 88 years old, crossed the plains to Bannack City [Beaverhead County, Montana] with her husband in 1864 and saw frontier life in Montana and Utah. She came to Billings, the home of W. D. and C. E. Mowre, nephews of her husband, in 1906, several years after her husband's death, and has since made her home here. One sister and a number of nephews and nieces also survive. She was a member of the Ladies of the G.A.R., who will attend the services in a body. She also belonged to the Rebekah Lodge.
