An obituary from the 03 Dec 1890 issue of the Atlantic, Iowa "Daily Telegraph": "Jesse D. Wilson died suddenly Sunday morning at his residence of pneumonia. The news of his death was a shock to most of the citizens few realized that he was so ill. The funeral services took place at the residence Monday afternoon, and the remains were laid to rest in the Lewis cemetery. Wilson was born in Ohio September 15,1835, and came to Iowa in 1878 and has been a resident of Lewis for the past three years. He was much respected and had many friends. He leaves a widow and five children to mourn his loss."
