Elizabeth Reid was the fifth of seventeen known children of Jacob Reid Sr. (1735-1819) and Elisabeth Barbara Rominger (1741-1829), who married at Broad Bay, Lincoln County, Maine.

Elizabeth married David Schneider (1762-1828) on 25 Feb 1786 at Stokes County, North Carolina. Elizabeth and David were the parents of six known children, namely:

1. Johannes Schneider (1786-1803)
2. Philip Schneider (1788-1872)
3. George Schneider (1792-1818)
4. Anna Dorothea Schneider Kroehn/Krohn (1794-p1818)
5. Joseph Schneider (1797-1798)
6. Jacob Schneider (1800-1878)
