Clifford Dean Hofer, 58, died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC of a heart attack. He was born May 11, 1951 in Ogden, Utah the youngest son of Thomas Wesley and Marjorie Hazel(Terman) Hofer.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1970 and went on to Automotive College in Denver from 1970 until 1971 when the school closed. He entered the U.S. Army in 1972 and was stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina for basic training. He served as a Motor Pool Mechanic in the US Army from 1972-1983 serving both stateside and in Heilbronn, Germany. He was the assistant supervising mechanic in the motor pool when he served in Germany, he left the Army as a Sargeant. Before enlisting in the Army he married his first wife, Cynthia Coleman in Portland, Oregon and they had two children, Delina Hofer in 1974 and Clifford Dean Hofer Jr. in 1975 while stationed in Hartness, North Carolina. They divorced in 1977 and he met his second wife Mary Robbins in 1976 while being stationed at Fort Drum in Northern New York, they were married in Clayton NY on Dec 24 1981, they had five children: Charles in 1979, twins Joseph and Johnathon in 1980, Wesley in 1985, and Sara in 1986. He spent his years after the Army as a business owner, He owned Hofer's Auto and Boat Repair in Ogden, Utah from 1984 to 1987, he also held many jobs from mechanic to pallet maker. He moved to Ohio in 2000 and stayed for a year before settling down in South Carolina in 2001 and continued to work in factories. He retired in 2008 from McKechnie Plastics. He enjoyed building models, playing his video games, and working on his 1979 Lincoln Mark V he named "Horace Wimp", he also enjoyed going to concerts with his sons, going to drag races and spending time with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife of 33 Years Mary P. (Robbins) Hofer, his Mother Marjorie (Terman) Hofer of Ogden, UT;
his mother In law Betty Robbins of Watertown, New York; Brothers: Jerry L (Annabelle)Hofer of Roy, Utah; Norman (Joan)Hofer of Eatonville , Washington; Ronnie (Donna) Hofer of El Paso, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his father Thomas Wesley Hofer of Ogden, Utah, sister Carol Bullough of Covina, California, son Johnathan Michael Hofer, his father in law Henry P Robbins and brother in law James H Robbins both of Watertown, New York; and nephews Jerry Lee Hofer Jr. and Bradley Hofer of Ogden, Utah.

Entombment will be at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC.
