THE PARIS NEWS, Friday, August 17, 1951: "DEPORT- Funeral services for Richard D. Slaton, 67, who died Friday, will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Baptist Church here. The Rev. C. G. Renfro, the pastor, will officiate and J. M. Grand Funeral Home will make burial in Highland Cemetery. Nephews will be pallbearers.

This will be a joint service with that of Mr. Slaton's brother-in-law, William M. Wright, Paris.

Mr. Slaton, who died Friday at 7:45 p.m. at Lamar General Hospital in Paris, had been a farmer before his health failed two or three years ago. He had lived here the past 50 years. Richard David Slaton was born Jan. 16, 1884, son of the late John and Anne Bonner Slaton.

Besides his wife, the former Miss Ida Wright, he leaves these children; Mrs. Les Gifford and Mrs. Lizzie Clifton, Deport and Bill Slaton, Dallas; four granchildren and a brother and six sisters; Frank Slaton, Deport; Mrs. Laura Ford, Rusk; Mrs. Willlie , Mrs. Vera Vaughn and Mrs. Tommie Barton, Bogata; Mrs. Hattie Woodall, Sherman,and Mrs. Mollie Bolton, Dallas."
