Thomas Guthrie Slaten, aged forty-seven years, died at his home east of Deport Tuesday of meningitis, after a week's illness. It was caused by an abcess forming on the brain after an attack of the influenza last winter.
The funeral service was conducted by Rev. J. E. Peaden and interment made at the Deport Cemetery.
Mr. Slaton was married to Ann Threadgill some years ago, and is survived by her and nine children. Also his father, J. S. Slaton, two brothers and a sister; two half brothers and six half sisters.
He was a member of Shadowland Baptist Church and had many friends who join The Times in extending condolence to his loved ones.
