William Cornelius Cox, 81, of 2810 Dumbarton Drive died Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

He was born October 21, 1926, in Lee County, son of the late Robert Lee Cox and Ara Estelle Davis Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Lee Cox, and a son, William Donald "Donnie" Cox. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II.

He is survived by a son, Ronnie Cox and wife Gail of Sanford; a daughter, Brenda Ellis and husband Lee of Sanford; sisters Bonnie McLeod and husband Billy of Nashville and Doris Gates of Laurinburg; special friends Karen Stewart and Kristin Stewart, both of Sanford; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home and 214 Sheriff Watson Road, Sanford.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Oldham and the Rev. Steve Ray officiating. Burial will follow at Shallow Well Cemetery.
