ZEELAND (special)--Albert B. Johnson, 84, of South Maple St., died early this morning at the Zeeland Hospital. He had a stroke Tuesday morning, he had been taken to the hospital Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson had planned to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Memorial Day. Mr. Johnson was a Sunday School teacher and a member of Third Reformed Church. He was a retired mail carrier, having been with the postal department 26 years. He was born in Hanover, Germany, Jan 8, 1869 and came to this country at the age of 16. He married Maggie Wyngarden.
Surviving are the wife; seven sons, Ben, Herman, Gerrit and Willard, all of Zeeland, Martin and James of Grand Rapids, and Albert A. of Muskegon; four daughters, Mrs. William (Ida) Ellenbaas, Mrs. Marvin (Fannie) Vogel, both of Zeeland, Mrs. Robert (Lydia) Newhouse and Mrs. Arie (Mae) Baumann, both of Holland; 30 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Kruithof and Mrs. Reka Underkircher, both of Kalamazoo, and Mrs. Jane Rice and Mrs. Dena Ende, both of Holland; one sister-in-law, Mrs. John Johnson of Kent City, and one brother, Henry Johnson of Hamilton.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Third Reformed Church, Dr. J.H. Bruinooge will officiate. Relatives will meet in the church basement at 1:40 p.m. The body will be taken from the Yntema Funeral Home to the residence this afternoon and will repose there until Friday morning. Burial will be at Zeeland Cemetery. Friends may call at the home.
