Born Thomas Wilson Montgomery the oldest of seven children to William Tracy and Fannie Forrest Rosebud Herd. When his father died be the oldest he had to take over the affairs of the family. To pay the bills and things that had been acquired by his father before his death he started using his father's name Wilson Thomas. His legal name was always Thomas Wilson but he used his father full name or initial's W. T. from then on. This way the documents were signed just like his father.

William Tracy Montgomery became ill when William Thomas was 12 years old. They were living down in Izard Co. Ark. at Calico Rock. William Tracy's brother John Newton had done ventured to the state of Oklahoma and had bought some land at Carlile Ok. When John Newton heard from Fannie that William Tracy had become ill, he wrote the family and told Fannie if she would load the family up and move to Oklahoma , that once they got here he would help take care of them. It wasn't long after that Wilson loaded up all his family and moved to Gore Ok. Fannie and her children put a bed for William to ride on and what belongings they could take and headed out for the state of Oklahoma. Their destination was Gore Ok. close to where John Newton lived. Wilson Thomas being only 12 drove the team and wagon for a journey that took three months to travel.

When Wilson and his siblings and mother Fannie arrived in Oklahoma times was hard for everyone. Soon it became apparent that Wilson had to take a job to help with the expenses of the bills. Wilson sharecropped and when he wasn't sharecropping he would work in the fields around Gore Ok. for other farmers. That is how he met Millie, he was working for her father Noah who had purchased land on the west side of Gore Ok. and was farming it. Millie was working in the fields right along beside Wilson.

Thomas married (1) Millie Viney CHANDLER, the daughter of Noah Hampton CHANDLER and Clemintine OWNBY, on 2 Aug 1937 in Muskogee Ok Muskogee Co. They had a total of five girls Rose Ann, Betty, Dorothy, Wanda and Mary Louise Montgomery. Mellie died in child birth with triplets on Dorothy's ninth birthday. She came home from school that day and a birthday cake was made on the table. Her mother had went into labor and Wilson Thomas went on horseback, to Webber Falls to get the doctor. There was no bridge at that time and you had to cross the river. The doctor did not make it back in time. They buried her in Crapoe Cemetery along side her father.

Thomas second marriage was to Diamond Ellaween (Jones) SMITH. Dec. 24 1951. This marriage was a marriage of convience not to say that they didn't love each other, for Ellaween's husband Homer Jones Sr. had ran off and left her with three boys to raise. Not only did Wilson need someone to help raise his five girls, Elloween needed someone to help her raise her three boys.

No one knows the mystery of God, for the answer to both their prayers arrived in a meeting of the two, where they fell in love and married. Being able to provide a home for all the kids. Her sons were, Sherman , Harold and Homer Jones.

Wilson wasn't able to take care of all the girls after Mellie passed away, for Louise was just a mere baby forcing him to seperate them. Grandma Chandler offered to take care of Dorothy and Wanda until Wilson could make other arrangements. Wilson had a job he worked on the railraod at this time.

Grandma Montgomery took the other three to take care of until Wilson would get back home. Wilson paid grandma Chandler $20 a month child support to care for the two girls she took until he could come get them. Grandma Chandler lived in Wynnewood Oklahoma.

I know it must have been hard on grandpa for he had just lost his wife and triplets that she was carrying and now the thought of having to send his girls away in order to make things easier for all. Thomas Wilson Montgomery did every thing possible to make a way to get his girls back together. In December of 1951 he married Elloween, some of the family thought it was too soon but he needed to get the girls back together. He started adding to the house place and making it larger to make room for all the kids.

Dorothy and Wanda lived with Clementine from the death of their mom till December of 1952, at that time Wilson along with Elloween was able to go get them. The boys and girls grew up together as brother and sisters. He took her sons and loved them just like his own, and she took his girls to raise as her own . The thought of step never entered into the vocabulary. They were just there children.
