Dorothy Fay Smith, 77, departed this life on Friday, May 31, 2019, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was born to Wilson Thomas and Melvina "Millie" Viney Chandler on January 26, 1942 in Gore, Oklahoma. She made her home in Vian, Oklahoma for many years before moving to Gore, Oklahoma. Having lost her mother at a young age she was blessed to have a stepmother, who along with her father, raised her to adulthood.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Emery Smith in 2010. She married Jim on July 4, 1973 in Warsaw, Missouri. She is also preceded in death by her parents Wilson and Millie Montgomery, her stepmother Elloween Montgomery, two sisters RoseAnn Gates and Betty Gates, two grandchildren Denise Renee Swimmer and Cristin Rebbicca Swimmer, one stepson Kenneth Smith, and one brother Harold Jones.
She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Brenda Lee and Larry Stegall of Vian, Oklahoma and Tina Fay and Gary Lester of Gore, Oklahoma. Two sons and their spouses George Wilson and Peggy Sprinkles of Porter, Oklahoma and Robert J and Tara Smith of Gore, Oklahoma. Two stepdaughters and their spouses Patty Ann Imholt and Bobby Tramell and Brenda Sue and Bobby O’Neal both of Vian, Oklahoma. Stepson and spouse Jimmy Clinton “JC” and Doreen Smith of Ochelata, Oklahoma. Sisters and their spouses Wanda June and J. C. Hart of Gum Springs, Oklahoma and Mary Louise and Raymond Cantrell, of Gore, Oklahoma. Brothers Sherman Dean Jones and Homer Jones Jr. both of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Twenty-nine grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Mama will be laid to rest and buried in the same plot as her husband Jim at a later date.
