Lancaster (#JB 684) aircraft took off from Grantham Lodge, Lincolnshire, on a night raid against the railway yards in Laon, France. Shot down by a night fighter, the Lancaster crashed at Conde-sur-Aisne, 12 Km E. of Soissons, France; all seven aircrew members perished.
