"Rufus B. Hovey, eldest son and child of Rufus C. and Grace (Billings) Hovey, b. in Lyme, N.H., Nov. 17, 1794, m. in Williamstown, Vt., Jan. 14, 1819, Polly Kendall, dau. of Timothy and Eunice (Houghton) Kendall. She was born in Williamstown, Vt., July 7, 1797. He d. in Albany, Vt., Jan. 9, 1844. ... He was a man widely known and eminently esteemed for his devotion to every good work, and the conscientious performance of every known duty."
