Robert served as a Staff Sergeant & Asst. Radio Operator / Gunner on B-24J "My Irish Colleen" #44-41176, 371st Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Tulsa County, Oklahoma prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 9, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in trades and services and also as Single, without dependents.

B-24J #44-41176 took off from Morotai Island, Indonesia on a combat mission over Tarakan, North Kalimantan. They were believed to have been shot down. They crashed at sea with the entire crew lost.

Robert was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.
