In his book THE FAMILIES OF CADES COVE, Randolph Shields tells us that Nathan built a cabin on the crest of the Smokies, between Parson's and Gregory Balds, and claimed title to 5000 acres of land on the Tennessee side of the mountains. He moved to the Tapoco area of Graham County, NC later. Prostate cancer complications took his life. He died in Angel Hospital in Franklin, Macon County NC.
