Clyde Wilkie Breeland, 76, died Thursday, May 16th 2002 in Biloxi.

Clyde Breeland was born in Tylertown, Walthall County Mississippi and was a resident of Gulfport.

He was a veteran of WWII and Korea, serving in the Seabees in the South Pacific and in the Navy on a sea-going tug in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as an insurance agent with Interstate Life and Accident Insurance Company of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was also employed with Gulf Life of Jacksonville, Florida, for 30 years, in management until his retirement. He was a past Member of the Life Training Council and the Life Underwriters Association in Mississippi and Louisiana, the Star Twirlers Square Dance Club and the Mississippi Coast Square Festival Association. He was a 32 year Member of American Legion Joe Graham Post 119, Lodge # 422 F&AM, Scottish Rite Consistory, all in Gulfport, the Joppa Temple in Biloxi and a Member of the Ambassador's Unit. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Gulfport-Long Beach Cluster, and the Trinity Handy Helpers Committee.

Clyde was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Cruthirds Breeland; his parents, Clyde Brumfield Breeland and Vera Jane Breeland; and his brother, Louis Breeland.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Walker Breeland; two sons, Brady Lynn Breeland of Long Beach and Glenn Wayne Breeland of Homestead, Florida; two stepdaughters, Charlotte Wayne Harvey of Arlington, Texas and Jackie Bancroft of Emory, Texas; a brother, Jabus Breeland of Plain Dealing, Louisiana; one sister, Ellen Bounds of Pearl, Mississippi; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 5107 Lawson Avenue, Gulfport on 18 May 2002 at 10am.

Burial, with Masonic Rites, was in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum in Gulfport, directed by Riemann Funeral Home, 25th Avenue, Gulfport.
