Funeral services for U.S.A.F. Msgt. Jabus William "Bill" Breeland, Retired, age 90, will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 7, 2017, at the Pilgrim Home Baptist Church with Rev. Deryl Jones and Rev. Wade Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Pilgrim Home Cemetery, Benton, LA with military graveside rites under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church.

Jabus was born July 9, 1927 in Tylertown, MS, the Salem Community and resided in Plain Dealing, LA, the "Rocky Mount" Community. Jabus lived at the Rocky Mount Community from the year of 1987 until now. He and his wife, Susan, operated the Rocky Mount Store at Rocky Mount and Rocky Mount Gourds, a business of art. Before moving to Rocky Mount, he resided in Shreveport, LA where he operated a Texaco Service Station from 1978 until 1986. Jabus operated a Citgo Service Station from 1974 until 1978. Prior to that, he worked for Diebold, Inc.

Jabus retired from the United States Air Force after 25 years of service. He also served in the U. S. Merchant Marines aboard the U. S. Belmead and the U. S. Evangaline. He served during the WW II, Korea and Vietnam era in Europe, Vietnam and the United States.

Mr. Breeland was a member and Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge #392, Tylertown, MS for 60 years. He was a past Post Commander of the V.F.W. Post #5099, a member of the D.A.V. Association; the Air Force Sergents Association and was one of the first members of the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Department Posse and retired from the Benton Volunteer Fire Department. He also formerly volunteered for the American Red Cross at Barksdale Air Force Base.

Mr. Breeland was a very active member of the Pilgrim Home Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and actively held many committee positions with the church before his illness.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Clyde B. Breeland and Vera Brumfield Breeland; daughter, Tracy B. Johnson; brothers, Louis Breeland and Wilkie Breeland.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Susan Foster Breeland; daughters, Claudia J. Colton, Janice M. Breeland; step-daughter, Jamie Persac; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Ellen Bounds of Pearl, MS. He also is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins to whom he was very close.

Serving as pallbearers will be the deacons of Pilgrim Home Baptist Church and Bro. Jerry DeMoss. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Sheppard and Larry Stewart.
