Excerps from "Pioneer Heritage: A McColley Family History" by Dallas G. McColley, 1993, pgs 235-236. Emery Aaron McColley, the younger son of George and Electa (Morehouse) McColley, grew to adulthood on his parent's farm in Hartland township and attended the rural schools. He married Effie Clarenda Shequen October 5, 1888 in Freeborn County. After their marriage, Emery and Effie rented a farm northeast of the town of Freeborn. In the fall of 1891, they bought 80 acres in Freeborn tws; and in 1909 bought an adjoining 80 acres. In 1914, he was offered what he thought was a good price for his farm and at that price, decided to sell. They bought another farm in New Richland tws of Waseca County and moved there in February of 1915. Effie died July 27, 1916 at the hospital in Albert Lea, Minn, following surgery for cancer. Emery continued to live on the farm until the time of his death on January 21, 1936. They had ten children, Elgen, Ruby, Marlet, Cora, Grant, Vesta, Hazel, Erven, Kenneth, and Marian. They also had a set of twin babies that died at birth.

(Note: Emery & Effie McColley are my great grandparents).
