Louisa was born to James and Dolly (Quackenbush) Boss in Oneida County, New York, in 1834.

When she was five years old, her family moved to Indiana and then in 1842, they moved to Burlington, Wisconsin. The travel at this time was done by "prairie schooner".

In 1856, she married Frederick W. Krakofsky in Racine County, Wisconsin. (Her younger sister, Almira, was later to marry Frederick's brother.)

Frederick and Louisa had four children:

1) Frederick George Krakofsky (1855–1880), no known marriage.

2) Augusta A Krakofsky (1859–1926), m. Benedict Holmes; They had four children living to an adult age.

3) Henry Janus Krakofsky (1867–1906), m. Josephine Eisenbart; They had two children.

4) Edgar James Krakofsky (1872–1941), m. Anna Meyer; They had nine children.

After her husband's death, in 1908, Lousia left the farm and moved into the home of her daughter's family, Augusta Holmes.

She survived her husband by 9 years, dying five days before her 84th birthday. She was one of the earliest residents of Burlington, Wisconsin area, at the time of her death.
