Frank Strobl Laid at Rest Tuesday

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Congregational-Christian church for Frank Strobl, with the Rev. L. A. Moore officiating, he taking the place of the Rev. Z. M. Bressler, who was ill.

The pallbearers were George Kudrna, Harry Buckles, Hugh McPartland, Ed Sidlo, Anton Maruska and Paul Jelinek. D. J. Bunch, Miss Beverly Bunch, Mrs. J. G. Aukes and H. E. Thomas, with Mrs. Carl Gass at the organ, sang "Rock of Ages," "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Going Down the Valley." Interment was made in the city cemetery.

Frank Strobl, son of Mike and Annie Strobl, started on the journey of this life in Czechoslovakia on November 1, 1868.

His father and mother brought their family to America when Frank was eight years old and they settled on a homestead 7 1/2 miles north of Red Cloud.

At the age of 25 years he bought his own farm just one-half mile south of the old homestead and for 59 years this has ever been home to him.

He was married to Miss Barbara Remes of Omaha on February 7, 1895, and to this union six daughters and five sons were born, namely: Annie, Lizzy, Emma, Bessie, Tillie, Lydia, Rudolf, Alex, Fred, Vencil and George.

Mr. Strobl was a loyal and devoted husband, father and neighbor. A man of industry, integrity, and devoted to the principles of honor and frugality, giving himself unselfishly to those purposes which he believed were for best interests of the community.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Strobl celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on February 7, 1945, and on the 19th of the next December, Mrs. Strobl slipped away into the realms eternal. Mr. and Mrs. Strobl were also preceded into the great beyond by their daughter, Annie.

For several years Mr. Strobl's health has steadily declined and he has been thoughtfully and tenderly cared for by his sons, Alex and Fred, and a few days ago he was taken to the Maynard Hospital in Red Cloud where he answered the final summons on the morning of his wedding anniversary, February 7, 1953, having reached the age of 84 years, 3 months and 6 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure his ten children: Mrs. Lizzy Sidlo of Red Cloud, Mrs. Emma Prochaska of Louisville, Colorado, Mrs. Bessie Prochaska of Boulder, Colorado, Mrs. Tillie Jelinek of Red Cloud, Mrs. Lydia Lannigan of Salem, Oregon, and the five sons, Rudolf, Alex, Fred and Vencil, all of Red Cloud, and George of Hastings. He also leaves 24 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, together with other relatives and a host of friends.
