(Newspaper Obituary)

Mrs. Anna Stroble, wife of Michael Stroble, died at her home seven miles north of this city on Monday evening May 1st, from pneumonia after an illness of but one week. Her age was 59 years, and up to one week of her death was a strong and healthy woman. Besides her husband she leaves five children to mourn her loss, Mrs. John Polnicky of this city and the four sons at home--John (Zajic), Frank, Michael and Joseph. The funeral took place on the 3rd inst and the remains laid to rest in the cemetery west of town.

Anna's first marriage was to Jan Zajic 26 November 1849 in Smrdov - later renamed Sazavka. Their children were Josef Zajic born 8 October 1851 and died 27 October 1851 from infantile convulsion; Anna Zajic born 7 March 1853 and died 20 October 1859 from scarlet fever; and Jan Krtitel (John Baptist) Zajic born 18 June 1856. Anna's husband Jan died 9 February 1865 in Smrdov with cause of death listed as fever.

Anna second marriage was to Matej (Michael) Strobl 23 July 1867 in Smrdov. They had one daughter Mary born 27 March 1866 in Smrdov; and three sons Frantisek (Frank) born 30 October 1867 in Smrdov; Matej (Michael) born 3 January 1871 in Smrdov; and Joseph born 23 October 1878 in Red Cloud, NE.

Anna Zadinova (Zadjna) (Zajicova) was my great grandmother. She was born 13 June 1834 in Smrdov No. 39, Paslou, Bohemia, Austria-Hungry (now Sazavka No. 39, Czech Republic). She was originally married to Jan Zajic also of Smrdov, a locksmith, and was widowed before marrying Matej Strobl in Bohemia 23 July 1867.
