Dale Edward Vensel, 80, of 301 S. McKean St., Kittanning died Friday, Feb. 21, 2002 at Armstrong County Health Center, Kittanning. He was born Jan. 24, 1923 in West Kittanning to James and Orfa C. (Lasher) Vensel. Mr. Vensel along with his late wife, he owned and operated The Paper Poppy of Kittanning from 1973 to 1991. He was previously employed with Mellon Bank of Pittsburgh. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Kittanning. An Army veteran he served in the European Theater during World War II. He was a 1941 graduate of Kittanning High School. His other memberships were the Pittsburgh Masonic Lodge; Valley of Pittsburgh Consistory; and the Kittanning B.P.O. Elks Lodge 203. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ryan (Cynthia) Duncan of Kittanning; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; one sister, Mrs. Dale H. (Jeane) Smart of Kittanning; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geraldine (Dosch) Vensel, who died Jan. 13, 1999; three brothers, Blaine J., Leslie A. and Homer Vensel; and one sister, Naomi Binder Lemmon. VENSEL —There will be no public visitation for Dale Edward Vensel, 80, of 301 S. McKean St., Kittanning, who died Feb. 21, 2003. Entombment was held Saturday in Lawn Haven Burial Estates Mausoleum, East Franklin Township. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church with his pastor, the Rev. Carl A. Johnson, officiating. For information: www.bauerfuneralhome.com.
