Vian Alanzo Hazen, 83, Route 1, Eleva, died Sunday at The Clairemont Nursing Home, Eau Claire.
Vian was born on Sept. 15, 1907 in the town of Pleasant Valley, Eau Claire County to LeRoy and Elna Hazen. He was a lifelong resident of the town of Pleasant Valley. He was married to Sadie Smith on March 25, 1931. She preceded him in death on Oct. 4, 1988. Vian worked for the White Machine Works for 17 years and then farmed in the town of Pleasant Valley until his retirement. He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and two grandsons.
Survivors include five sons, Donald of Omaha, Neb., Clarence (Marlas) of Osseo, Charles (Betty), Jerome of Menomonie, and DeWayne (Joyce) of Eau Claire; three daughters, Irene (Eugene) Brantner of Mondovi, Sadie (Truman) Hoverson of Eleva and Beverly (Douglas) Dohms of Eau Claire; two brothers, Emery (Sena) of Eau Claire and Stanley (Margaret) of Eleva; two sisters, Velma (John) O'Mara and Elna Yaeger, both of Eau Claire; 1 brother-inlaw, Percy (Martha) Rigg of McComb, Ill.; 34 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Rock Falls Baptist Church, Pastor Dan Whitehead officiating, with burial in Union Cemetery, town of Clear Creek.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and an hour before services Wednesday at Fuller Funeral Home, Eau Claire.
