Mrs. Lillian Deal McGee, died, Sunday afternoon at her home five miles southwest of Pleasant Hill. Funeral services for Mrs. McGee were in Pleasant Hill at the Brownfield funeral home Tuesday 2 p.m. with burial at Harrisonville in Oakland cemetery. She was a cancer victim.
Miss Delma Carpenter, Greenwood, sang during the services, rendering "In the Garden" and "You Cannot Hide from God," with accompaniments by Mrs. Geo. Dunn. Pallbearers: Lorence McGee, Harley Gray, Wm. Schrader and Wm. Baxter. The minister was the Rev; Jack Bogler of Kansas City.
Daughter of Paul and Cornelia Schindorff, Mrs. McGee was born near Pleasant Hill, March 25, 1886, and had spent practically all her life in this community. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Onabelle Gray with, whom she had lately made her home, and by three brothers, P. E. Schindorff, Herman Schindorff, of Pleasant Hill, and Julius Schindorff Lenexa, Kas. Her life spanned the period of 65 years; 3 months, 14 days.
April 17,1908, the then Miss. Schindorff was married to Joseph Edgar Hassler, but two years after the birth of the daughter, Mr. Hassler died. Then after a short period at Eldorado Springs the widow returned here to the family home to care for her parents in their declining years.
Sept, 23, 1926, she was married again, the second husband, being Albert McGee, and he died in January 1931.
Mrs. McGee, converted at an early age, placed her membership in the East Lynne Christian Church, but finally became an adherent of the Seventh Day Adventist.
Her last years were in tireless devotion to: her widowed daughter, Mrs. Gray, and the fatherless grandchildren, Joseph, Evelyn, John and Paul Gray. Otherwise she gave much of her attention to flowers, in regard to which she was an authority, reflecting her enduring spirit as a lover of the beautiful.
