He continued to work in retail and with clothing and by 1918 he was employed by Stoutenburgh Clothier in Newark. By that time, he and his wife were living at 208 Smith Street in Newark.
Sometime after 1918, he and his wife moved to Cosa Mesa, CA. A 1946 obituary shows she died in 1946 in CA and was buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Newark.
Jesse continued to live in CA until his death in 1971.
