Able and his wife Anna moved here 20 years ago from Parsons, Kan., where he first was employed by the railway. He worked as a boilermaker foreman and boilermaker inspector until he became ill.
He is survived by his wife and son Charles F Able.

I think since his parents used the name Abel, on his Military Draft card that the person filled out them selves. And that his wife & son both used the name Able.
