LaVon Howe Jones returned home to her Heavenly Father on November 6, 2003 very much the way she lived: with courage, strength and a deep love and compassion for her family and friends.

LaVon was born June 21, 1914 in Provo, UT the daughter of Leonard Jackson and Marybell Theodora Howe. She was the oldest of six children. She graduated from Wasatch High School and attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City.

She married Lester M. Jones in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Nov 20, 1934. Lester and LaVon lived their entire married lives in the Wasatch Valley rearing their children to value work and to respect and love each other. Lester died on July 9, 1997.

LaVon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a faithful and devoted member all her life. She and her husband served a mission in the Columbus Ohio Mission. LaVon served many years in the Relief Society presidency in the days of budget dinners, bazaars and Relief Society dues. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Shakespearean Club.

LaVon was the ultimate "Homemaker." Her home and family were the center of her life. Her family and friends will long remember her delicious meals, handmade quilts and tailor-made clothes. If anyone needed anything repaired, remodeled, or refinished they would bring it to LaVon.

LaVon and Lester were the parents of five children, Marvin (deceased) and Jeanette Jones, Draper, Marion Collard, Midvale, Robert Jones, Provo, Beth and Douglas Murphy, Vernal, Karen and Steve Ridge, Midway; grandparents to 16 grandchildren (one deceased), and 11 great-grandchildren, all of them will miss Grandma Jones' sweet temperament and love.
