"Emma Purves"
"Mrs. Emma Purves, daughter of the late Mates and Louisa Rasmussen was born January 19, 1882 on a farm in Bloom Township, Clay County, Kansas and died at the Garden Grove, California October 18, 1980 at the age of 98 years.
Emma, youngest of eight children and John Purves were married July 18, 1900. They lived on a farm for a few years in Bloom Township before moving to Morganville where John ran a livery stable. Later they moved to their farm 2 1/2 miles north of Morganville where they lived until their only son, Rayburn, graduated from the Morganville High School and they moved to Santa Ana, Calif. in 1918.
Preceding her in death was her husband in 1954 and her son in April 1980.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Dorothy, granddaughter, Ruth, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Emma was a seamstress and she enjoyed her flowers, home and friends as long as it was possible.
Graveside services for Mrs. Emma Purves were held Oct. 23, 1980 at the Fairhaven Cemetery in Santa Ana, Calif."
