Burial Rites Lastrup For Dr. Ortman

Funeral services for Dr. John W. Ortman, 57, St. Paul, were held at 9 a.m., Tuesday in the Sacred Heart Catholic church, St. Paul. The Rev. Cyril Ortman, OSB, brother of the deceased, read the requiem mass. Burial was in St. John's cemetery, Lastrup, also conducted by Rev. Cyril Ortman, assisted by Rev. Benedict Virnig, cousin of the deceased, and Rev. Wilfred Birk, pastor of St. John's church in Lastrup.

Dr. Ortman died suddenly following a long illness. His home was 875 Margaret, St. Paul.

Born at Lastrup April 24, 1896, Dr. Ortman was a graduate of St. John's College, Collegville, Minn. and Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, and held three degrees, bachelor of science, graduate of pharmacy, and doctor of medicine. He was a member of the American Medical Assocaition and a member of Kappa Psy and Alpha Sigma Tau, honorary medical fraternities. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society of the Sacred Heart Parish.

He practiced medicine in Pierz, Minnesota for several years and since 1931, in St. Paul.

Surviving Dr. Ortman are his wife, Helen, St. Paul; three sons, TSgt, Jean Wessel, U.S.A.F., Japan; C.P.O. John Creighton, U.S.N.; and Gordon C. of St. Paul; his father, Theodore Ortman of Lastrup, Minn.; three brothers, Father Cyril, OSB, St. Martin, Minn.; Felix, Seattle, Wash.; Clarence, Greybull, Wyomming; and Virgil, Lastrup; four sisters, Mrs. Marie Fox, Melrose, Minn.; Freda Ortman, Walker, Minnesota; Mrs. Dolores Kirk, Huron, South Dakota; and Mrs. Lavina Eich, Minneapolis.
