J. O. Strong, I believe is the son of John H. Strong. Family Search shows the 1897 marriage of J. O. Strong to Mollie Hasty and the father being John H. Strong. Also the 1870 census shows John H. being the head with J. O. being 0 years old.

An Old St. Joseph Citizen Called to His Reward
Remains Brought Here for Burial

Arthur L. Strong of Logansport, Indiana, died Saturday evening about 8:15 o'clock from a complication of diseases after an illness of about three weeks at his home in that city, but only for the last week had he seemed in a dangerous condition. The remains were brought here on the 10:55 Big Four train Monday and taken to the Christian church where funeral services were held. Rev. J. J. Cosat of Danville conducted the services after which the remains were taken to the Patterson cemetery for interment.
Obituary

Arthur L. Strong was born in St. Joseph township, December 23, 1842; died at Logansport, Indiana, May 16, 1908, aged 65 years, 4 months and 23 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Patterson, June 19, 1865. To this union ten children were born, of whom seven are still living, Morton Strong of Star City, Indiana; Robert Strong of Fithian; Delbert Strong of Fithian; Raleigh Strong of Star City, Indiana; Mrs. Sadie Davis of Logansport, Indiana; James Strong of Logansport, Indiana; and Mrs. Ada Gable of Logansport, Indiana. He enlisted as a private in Co. C. 71st Illinois volunteer regiment during the Civil war. St. Joseph was his home until a few years ago when he moved to a farm near Logansport, and after a short time he went to the city of Logansport to live. He leaves to mourn his loss, a loving wife, seven children; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Jennings of this place and Mrs. Elizabeth Freeman of Kansas; nineteen grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
All the children were present at the funeral.
