Matthew Alexander Painter was a son of William Alexander Painter and Rebecca Haley Painter.

Matthew Alexander Painter married first to LaVerna Ada Graham on September 22, 1887 in Peter's Gap, Coryell, Texas. They married, again, in the Cherokee Nation, Delaware District in Oklahoma Indian Territory on August 19, 1888 in order to meet the Cherokee marriage requirements. LaVerna Ada Graham was 1/32 Cherokee. They had seven children.

Matthew Alexander Painter married second to widow Mabel Waller Scott on October 10, 1933 in Claremore, Rogers, Oklahoma. They had no children.

Matthew Alexander Painter was my great-grandfather.
