After her death, he married Dena Elizabeth Free, a daughter of John Woodrow Free and Nannie Oliver Free.
~ Retired Farmer Dies Saturday
William Luther Wallace, 81, Hartselle, died at his residence, December 16, at 3:15 p.m. Born June 2, 1869, in Morgan County, Mr. Wallace was a retired farmer. He is a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church and the husband of the late Mrs. Dena Free Wallace. Mr. Wallace was the father of eight daughters and six sons, all of whom are living.
The deceased is survived by eight daughters, Mrs. W. E. Vest, Hartselle 1; Mrs. P. W. Sparkman, Decatur 1; Mrs. T. S. Sparkman, Decatur; Mrs. G. B. Roberts, Hartselle 2; Mrs. William Patterson, Hartselle 4; Mrs. Lee Standridge, Mrs. Ninnie Puckett, and Mrs. Minnie Hardeman, all of Hartselle; six sons, Jess Wallace, Hartselle; H. B., Gadsden; S. A., Decatur; E. G., Decatur 3; Marcus, Hartselle 2; and William, Hartselle 3; one sister, Mrs. Mary Long, Hartselle 2; also surviving are forty-five grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Johnson Chapel at 2 p.m., the Revs. Addie Wallace and C. L. Ellis officiating.
Burial was held in the Johnson Chapel cemetery, Peck directing. Grandsons of the deceased performed as pallbearers.
