Anthony “Tony” Sexton, age 68 of the Paint Rock community passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville, TN with his loving family by his side. Born on July 3, 1952, he was the son of the late Alma Newport Sexton and Floyd Sexton.

In addition to his parents, Tony was also preceded in death by his brother, Marshall Sexton; nephew, Roger Allen Sharp; mother and father-in-law, Marine and Sam Hall; and stepmother, Mildred Sexton.

Tony was the Assessor of Property of Scott County, a job which he truly loved. He worked in the office for 26 years before being elected in 2016. Tony also served on the Scott County Board of Education and represented the 3rd district from 1990-2000 and 2008-2016. Tony loved Scott County but the Huntsville community had his heart. Tony was also the owner of Sexton’s Mobil where he made many life-long friends and memories.

Tony joined White Rock Baptist Church in April 1967. He had love for Dirt Track Racing, watching his grandsons play football at Oneida, working on cars, mowing, plundering around the house, and spending time with his family at the Farm.

Tony is survived by his wife, Teresa Hall Sexton; one daughter, Heather L. Sexton; and grandsons, Anthony Rayse Cash, Kamden Scott Cash, Aaron Buttram, Andrew Buttram and Colt Buttram. They were the sparkle in his eyes and he loved spoiling them all. Tony also leaves behind two sisters, Patricia (Donnie) Jeffers, Shirley (Roger) Sharp; three special cousins, Linda Sharp, Sharon Kay Keeton, Melvin Jeffers; a half-brother, Mark Sexton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sheila Buttram (Fred West), Sharon (James) Marcum, Rick (Denita) Hall, and Bill (Sue) Hall; his courthouse family, Tiffany Jeffers, Lyndal Shepard, Gin Winchester, Shay Buttram, Harley Foster and Debbie Boshears. He also leaves behind several special aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and all the friends he made along the way.

Friends may visit with the Sexton family on Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Burress and Bro. Dean Barnes officiating.
