Mrs. Talitha McIlwain Durham, 91, widow of the late James L. Durham, died at her home here Tuesday afternoon, following an illness of over a year. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist at 3 P. M. Wednesday with Dr. B. C. Land, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the local cemetery. Active pallbearers were two grandsons, C. J. Gilbert, Baton Rouge, La.; James H. Durham, Winnfield; three grandsons-in-law, Dee Hollyfield, ElDorado, Ark.; Shelly Diamond, Rayville, La.; Theodore Robinson, Winnsboro, La.; one nephew, Willis McIlwain, Winnfield. Mrs. Durham was born near Decatur, Alabama, May 2, 1845. She moved from her birthplace with her parents to Lauderville [sic Lauderdale] County, Miss., and later to Leeke [sic Leake] County, where she lived until after the Civil War. She united with the Mt. Zion Baptist church at High Hill, Miss, at the age of 18. On October 29, 1865, the family moved to Atlanta community, Winn parish in a covered wagon, the trip being made in three weeks time. On January 2, 1868, she was married to James L. Durham. Ten children were born, six of whom survive. She is also survived by thirty-four grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. The daughters and sons who survive are: Rev. J. P. Durham, El Dorado, Ark.; Dr. G. W. Durham, Winnsboro, La.; Dr. S. L. Durham, Dearborn, Mo.; Mrs. Bettie Gilbert, Winnfield, La.; Mrs. Z. F.
