He was a veteran of World War II and served with the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine S. Scroggins, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. James M. Ball, Kirksville, and Mrs. Jeff Wooten, Rochelle, Ill.; two sons, Dwight K. Scroggins Jr., St. Joseph, and Daniel L. Scroggins, of the home; three sisters, Laveda Ball and Lila Wardrip, both of St. Joseph, and Velma Williams, Jedda, Saudia Arabia; seven brothers, Wilbur Scroggins, Kansas City, Jesse Scroggins, Farnhamville, Ia., Ivan Scroggins, St. Joseph, Dale Scroggins, Maryville, Gerald Scroggins, Lawrence Scroggins and Leonard Scroggins, all of Forbes, Mo.; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Meierhoffer-Fleeman Chapel, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, Mo.
