L.A. (Tommy) Thompson, age 93 of Newport, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015.

He was a veteran of World War II United States Army Air Corp. He was an avid handy man who loved camping and fishing. He retired as an accountant from Bush Brothers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Clevenger Thompson.

He is survived by his son, Steve Thompson; daughter Jan Russell and husband Ledford; grandchildren, Stephen Thompson and wife Jennifer, Jonathan Thompson and wife Lori, Lauren Brock and husband T.J., and Brooklyn Russell; great-grandchildren, Madison Thompson, Cole Thompson, and Maggie Thompson; and special family friends, Jennifer Stone and Robert Larkin.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in the Union Cemetery with Father David Garrett officiating. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 140 Lincoln Ave., Newport, TN 37821.
