Swannanoa - Hattie Connor Sides, 101, died Wednesday, September 20, 2005, at Flesher's Fairview Health Care Center.

A native of Henderson County, she was the wife of the late Herbert A. Sides and the daughter of the late William R. and Hessie Owenby Connor. She was preceded in death by a daughter; Sadie Isabelle Sides; a son; Clyde J. Thompson; sisters; Mae Moore; Estelle Mace; brothers Furman W. Connor; Dewey H. Connor; Preston Connor; Homer Connor; a grandson Derrick Sides. She worked at Beacon Mfg. in the weave room for 24 years.

She is survived by her daughter; Utha S. Aiken, of Swannanoa; sons; Lafoia A. Thompson, and his wife, Edith, of Newport, TN; Richard E. Sides, and his wife, Hilda, of Canton; grandchildren; Stephen Thompson, Jan Russell, Susan Clark, Cindy Keeter, Victor Sides, Michael Franklin, and Tracy Aiken; seven great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park

Married Walter L. Thompson 21 Aug 1924 in Marion, McDowell NC. His parents are listed as H.C. and Myrtle Thompson ( her maiden name is not shown ). He is the father of Clyde and Lafoia Thompson. I don't know if he died before 1930, or if there was a divorce. I have yet to find a reliable source for him, or his parents.
