Emmitt Leo Schwartzlose, 95, of Parkersburg went to his Lord and Savior, Monday, June 22 at Richland Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Emmitt was born August 17, 1919 in Bone Gap, IL, the son of Betsie (McFarrian) and Elmer Schwartzlose. On November 14, 1947 he married his "sweetheart", Mary Ann Barnett. They shared 67 years of blessed marriage. Emmitt and Mary had seven children, all survive.

Emmitt loved spending time with his family and friends, enjoyed sharing stories of his childhood and about his time in the military. His family and friends enjoyed and looked forward to his stories.

In January 1941, Emmitt was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving time in Attu, Pearl Harbor, the Philippines, and Okinawa during WWII. He served five years, earning four combat stars and four overseas bars. After returning home to Bone Gap, he worked in the farming industry until 1960 when he started working for Champion Labs in West Salem, retiring in 1981.

He was a member of Parkersburg United Methodist Church, West Salem American Legion Post No. 658, and a lifetime member of the Albion VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Parkersburg; three sons, John (Donna), New Albany, IN, Larry (Carol), Madisonville, KY, and David (Robin), Olney, IL; four daughters, Sally (Ray) Fraizer, Bridgeport, IL, Nancy (Rick) Newby, Indianapolis, IN, Jane (Steve) Jones, Newton, IL, Ruth (Mark) Stout, Elberfeld, IN; Sister, Audrey Patterson, Little Rock, AR; Sister-in-law, Myrtle Jane Schwartzlose, Patoka, IN; 14 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren, 9 Step Grandchildren, and 4 Step Great Grandchildren; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Emmitt was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Nelson and Melvin, one sister, Ada, and two granddaughters, Kristina and Amy.
