Leah Elnora Radford Blosch Hurley, 91, of Rigby, passed away at The Gardens of Rigby, Tuesday, March 17, 2015.
Leah was the fourth of ten children born to Wesley W. Russell and Sylvia E. Peterson Russell. Her childhood was filled with adventure on the farm. The children loved to sing and their mother taught them to do so in harmony. She attended school in Rigby and referred to them as “happy days.”
Leah married James Wayne Radford March 2, 1939 in LaBelle. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Leah and Wayne lived in Ririe the first years of their marriage and then moved to Grace, Idaho until WWII ended. They returned to the Rigby/Ririe area to raise their children.
Her marriage advice to her descendants was “Never go to bed angry at each other.”
Leah worked on the farm alongside her husband, even doing all of the irrigating for several years and driving the tractor with her baby belted to her in the event he fell asleep. Her passion in life was dancing; from her youth until she could no longer find a partner who could keep up with her.
Leah was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in all of the organizations which included Relief Society and Primary President.
After her family was grown she worked at Muir and Roberts Potato Processing Plant and at the Ririe School District lunch program.
After 42 years of marriage Wayne passed away and she married KV Blosch in 1982. They shared great times together for many years. After KV passed away Leah was blessed to marry Calvin C Hurley in 1999. He preceded her in death in 2014. She was thankful for her three wonderful husbands.
All through her life Leah was blessed with good friends who nourished their relationship on a regular basis. Her favorite activity was shopping and she had an amazing doll collection along with Elvis Presley memorabilia. Leah was the most loving person to know. If you hadn’t received a kiss from her it’s because you hadn’t met her! She loved everyone unconditionally and was happy to show that love.
She is survived by two daughters: Sherry (Gary) Warr of Meridian, Idaho and Linda Kramer of American Falls, Idaho; two sons: James (Connie) Radford of Caldwell, Idaho and Rex (Vicki) Radford of Ririe; one sister Nina Kroll of Idaho Falls; one brother Ned Russell of Rigby; 20 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grand children.
She was preceded in death by all three husbands, her parents, four sisters, three brothers and one great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Perry Ward LDS Chapel, 285 2nd West, Ririe. The family will visit with friends on Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
