His parents moved to Le Sueur County, Minnesota. They lived in Kasota Township and later Washington Township.

After the death of his mother Rebecca Anne SWEENEY DAVIS, his father married 2nd Margaret SLY SMITH, a widow with one son. There were 4 more DAVIS children in his fathers family. They moved to Linn County Kansas.

Elmer Zeblum DAVIS married 1st Mary MENTON in Minnesota. They had 4 known children. Elmer followed his fathers family to Linn County, Kansas. Mary MENTON DAVIS died and was buried there. Elmer and 3 sons moved into Camden County, Missouri where he married Rebecca WELSCHONS as his 2nd wife. They had a large family.
