A.J. Hughes, Jr. was influential in establishing the Bellview School which was the only school in the area during the late 1800's
Andrew "Jack" Hughes built the Old Hughes/Tate Gristmill located in Section 9, Land Lots 1 & 2 of Union County, Ga. in the Ivy Log Community of Union County on the NC State Line in the late 1800's. The Old Gristmill has been disassembled and relocated to Meeks Park in Blairsville in an effort to help preserve our history.

Sometime after the 1900 Census Jackson moved his family where the Old Gristmill Stood to his property next to the old mill in Union County, GA. His son Jefferson "Davis" was living in NC across from the mill.
