Ruth was the daughter of Jacob & Jane Kinsland Snider: Ruthy E. Snider in household of Jacob Snider, "US Census, 1850" Cherokee County, NC. House & Family#732, Line#25, AP# M432, AF#625, GSFilm# 444638, DF# 004181072

Rutha married Andrew "Jack"son Hughes, Jr. in 1858 in Cherokee County, NC, USA.

They had three children: Sara Jane Hughes b. 1859, Jefferson "Davis" Hughes b. 1861, Laura Hughes b. 1865.

Cherokee County, NC death records show Ruth passed away 28 March 1867 at the young age of 27, possible from childbirth. Ruth died much too young leaving 3 young children. She is believed to be buried in one of the many graves with unmarked deteriorated stones where other relatives from that time including her sister Nancy Snider Hughes & husband Thomas J. Hughes, a brother to Andrew Jack Hughes. Jr., are buried in Snowhill Baptist Church Cemetery where her father-n-law Andrew Jackson Hughes, Sr. was the minister during that time.

Jack married Elisabeth "Betty" Roper in 1869 & they had eight children. Jack is buried with his second wife at Bellview Methodist Church Cemetery along with several of their children including Davis Hughes son of Ruth.
