Mrs. Mattie Brown Day, 75, of
South Point, Ohio, formerly of
Richlands, died Sunday, Jan 11,
in a Huntington, WV hospital
following a long illness.
She was born in Russell County
and was a daughter of the late
James Madison and Ella Mae
Billups Nipper. She had made
her home in the Richlands area
most of her life, moving to
South Point 10 years ago. She
was a member and past worthy
matron of the Richlands Order
of Eastern Star No. 104 and a
member of the Richlands Presby-
terian Church. She was pre-
ceded in death by her first
husband, Hobart L. Brown, and
her second husband, George W.
Day.
Surviving are one son, Hoy
Lee Brown of South Point; two
step daughters, Mrs. Mildred
Hunsaker of Richlands and Mrs.
Juanita Jewell of Akron, Ohio;
one step-son, Perry Preston
Day of Akron; two sisters, Mrs.
Mozelle Shreve of Marion and
Miss Kansas Elizabeth Nipper of
Meadowview; two grandchildren;
nine step-grandchildren; and 10
step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be
Wednesday at 11 am. at Hurst-
Scott Funeral Chapel with Dr.
James B. Hollenhead officiating.
Burial will follow in Hankins
Cemetery at Richlands.
Pallbearers will be Paul E.
Cook, Louis Hunter, Artemis
Smith, Ken Shelton, Howard
(Sonny) Elswick, and Fayne Stacy.
