Funeral services for Dena W. Dirks were held 11:00 Thursday, November 2, 1995 at
Wayne Zion Lutheran Church at rural Monticello. The Rev. Eugene S chipper officiated at the service. Interment was at the church cemetery.
Dena Dirks, age 94, of Monticello, died this past Monday, October 30, 1995 at the Senior
Home in Monticello following a brief illness.
Dena was born April 13, 1901 near Amber, Iowa. She was the daughter of Wilke and
Gesche M. Weers Husmann. She attended school at Center Junction and on December 20, 1928 she was united in marriage with D. John Dirks at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in Wayne Township, Jones County their entire married life. On February 27, 1958, John passed away and Dena moved from the farm to Amber. She was a lifelong member of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, the Amberettes and the ladies circle at Wayne Zion.
Survivors include one son, John Henry (Irene) Dirks of rural Center Junction; one sister,
Alvina Rink of Monticello, two grandsons, Colin (Kari) Dirks, Keith W. (Jackee) Dirks and five great-grandchildren, Danelle, Ryan, Kiel, Alison and Richelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband D. John, five brothers, Wayne, Bill, Jack, Henry and Eddie and four sisters, Ann, Kate, Mate and Louise.
