Agusta Dirks
WYOMING - Funeral services were held for Augusta "Kate " Dirks of Wyoming Friday at the Zion Lutheran Church, Wyoming. Burial was in Wyoming Cemetery. The Rev. Gregory Hanneman officiated. Hayden Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Allen and Alva Husmann, James Conley, John H. and Robert Dirks and Raymond Tuetken. Mrs. Dirks died Sept. 4 in Heritage Acres Care Center, Cedar Rapids, where she had been a resident for two years. Agusta Dirks was born Jan. 28, 1899, near Center Junction, the daughter of Wilke and Margareta Weers Husmann She attended rural schools near Center Junction. On Sept. 21,1916, she married Gerd Dirks in Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. They farmed in the Center Junction and Olin areas until 1933 when they moved to Wyoming. She lived in Wyoming until moving to the care center. Mr. Dirks died in 1977. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Wyoming, and the Wyoming American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Leeon (Florence) Baldwin of Wyoming and Mrs. Clarence (Geraldine) Yock of Cedar Rapids; one son, Clifford of Wyoming; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Dena Dirks of Amber, Mrs. Mate Dirks of Monticello, Mrs. Owen (Louise) Conley of Anamosa and Mrs. Henry (Alvina) Rink of Monticello. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, one daughter, one grandson and one great-grandson.
