SERVICES HELD SUNDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Helene Ames were held last Sunday, October 5, from the Campbell's Mortuary with Rev. R.W. Hastings officiating and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Mrs. Ames died at the Blair Hospital on October 3, following an illness of several months.

Helene L. Strode, daughter of the late Newton and Dora Strode, was born in Blair February 14, 1890, in Blair.

She was a graduate of the Blair High School in the class of 1908.

On February 22, 1911 she was married to James W. Cappis and to this union three children were born, William Cappis, a surveyor with the Nebraska Power Co. in Omaha; two daughters, Maritza, now Mrs. Norman Abbott of Houston, Texas, and Patty Jo, now Mrs. Russell Peak of Omaha. Her husband died in 1920.

Deceased was remarried to George Ames on July 10, 1923 and a daughter, Aulda Ames, of Blair was born to them.

Besides the four children she is survived by one grandson, William Abbott; three brothers, W.K.Strode of Blair; John of Dwight, Nebraska and George of Jacksonville, Florida; and two sisters, Nelle Lazure of Blair and Mrs. Pearl Stewart of Vancouver, Washington.

She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and of the V.F.W. auxiliary.

Out-of-town relatives in attendance at the funeral rites were : Mr. and Mrs. John Strode of Dwight, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Hester of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Mack Hester of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Harold McCleary of Lincoln; Mrs. W.E. Kerr of Omaha; Mrs. E.G. Cathro and Donna of Fort Crook.
