(LANETT) Thomas "Bill" Bailey, 93, of Lanett died Sunday, March 17, 2013, at his residence.

The funeral will be Thursday, March 21, at 2 p.m. EDT at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Steve Garnett officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett.

Born May 4, 1919, in Randolph County, Mr. Bailey was the son of the late Tom and Lizzie Rainey Bailey. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and he was an avid University of Alabama fan. Mr. Bailey was a member of Fairfax First Baptist Church.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Ralph Akins of Lanett; two granddaughters and one grandson; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his wife Alma Garner Bailey.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. EDT at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
