VALLEY -- Mr. James Marvin Bailey, 79, of Valley died Thursday, April 20, 2006 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 23 at 2 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Revs. Stanley Duke and Kennety Overby officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfax Cemetery.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bailey, two sons, Don (Robin) Bailey of Newnan, Ga., and David (Faye) Bailey of Huguley; his brother, Bill (Alma) Bailey of Fairfax; and grandchildren, Wendy Ingram, Tracey Bailey, Courtney Bailey, Cord Bailey, Rodney Bishop, Melinda Duvall, Damon Bailey and Casey Jones.

Born Aug. 23, 1926 in Randolph County, Mr. Bailey was the son of the late Lizzie Rainey Bailey and Thomas Newton Bailey. He was a retired employee of WestPoint Stevens with more than 46 years of service with the company. Mr. Bailey was a veteran, having served with the U. S. Army. He had been married and enjoyed life with his wife for 62 years, and was a wonderful, devoted father to his three sons. Mr. Bailey was very active during his retirement and stayed busy by assisting is sons at their homes, traveling, fishing and just enjoying life. He was a charter member of Fairview Baptist Church and was a member of the Fairfax Golden Age Club. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his son Puillip Bailey.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 22 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

Mr. Bailey's family respectfully decliens the honor of flowers and asks that memorials be made to Fairview Baptist Church or to Vista Care Hospice in his memory.

Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home of Valley is handling arrangements.
