Mary Ann, 18, along with five of her sibings and a cousin the Wilkerson boy. All lost their lives in the "LAST INDIANS MASSACRE OF GEORGIA. When Billy Bowlegs led the Seminole Indians in the massacre that killed eight members of the Wildes family and a cousin the Wilkerson boy. Only four of her brothers escaped the massacre, Reuben, Jesse, James and John Wildes, and their cousin the Wilkerson girl. The soliders arrived to find her mother, father, five of her siblings, and a cousin all dead. Mary Ann was still just bearly alive and clinging to her infant dead siblings. They heard her calling in a faint voice for water, and when the soliders gave her water she fell dead.
Mary Ann along with her parents, five sibings and her cousin, are all buried in a mass grave, in Waycross, Ware Co., GA.
