Obituary: Dorothy V. Mullinix, 96, formerly of Sykesville, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville. Born Jan. 13, 1912, in Dayton, Howard County, she was the daughter of the late Hamilton and Ida Hungerford Simpson. She was the wife of the late Vincent K. Mullinix. She had been a telephone operator for many years. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Sykesville. Surviving are a brother, Thomas Simpson of Dayton; sisters Anna Grimes of Catonsville, Helen Nowak of Massachusetts, Margaret Nicholson of Damascus and Larue Turbyfill of Tennessee. She was predeceased by siblings Hamilton Simpson, Marie Rogers, Harriet Shipley, Jean Morris and Walter Simpson. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, with her pastors, the Revs. Roland "Bud" Brown and Charles Shacochis officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
