Mrs. Harriet B. Shipley, 93, formerly of Sykesville, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Walkersville.

Born July 10, 1913, in Dayton, Howard County, she was a daughter of the late Hamilton Greenberry and Ida Irene Hungerford Simpson.

She was the wife of the late Gilbert T. Shipley, who died in 2000.

She had been a nurse for several years at Sheppard Pratt Hospital, in addition to being a homemaker most of her life.

She is survived by her son, Michael G. Shipley of Castleberry, Fla.; daughters, Charlotte S. Dulany of Westminster and Shirley J. Sims of Walkersville; brother, Thomas Simpson of Dayton; sisters, Dorothy Mullinix and Anna Grimes, both of Catonsville, Helen Nowak of Massachusetts, Margaret Nicholson of Damascus and LaRue Turbyfil of Tennessee; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by siblings: Hamilton and Walter Simpson, Marie Rogers and Jean Morris.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville.

Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
